If somebody has told you recently that your ash trees are infected with Emerald Ash Borer, will surely die, and should be removed right away give us a call. Even though there have been millions of casualties in the Midwest, there have been very few confirmed cases of Emerald Ash Borer in our region. We have fewer ash trees here and the beetle has to travel further to get from one tree to the next. The tree companies that tell you that your ash trees can't be saved are wrong and don't offer a Plant Health Care program like us. Ash trees can be preventatively treated with a systemic insecticide. The treatment is not expensive but depends on the size of the tree. If you are concerned about the health of your ash trees please call us and an ISA Certified Arborist will come out and give you an estimate.
Thank you for caring for your trees. Please call or comment with any questions you might have.

Early Spring For You And Me....
There you have it- right from the ground hog's mouth! (Kind of) (:
Just a few more weeks of rain and snow and we will be marvelling at the first signs of spring: snow drops, crocus and daffodils are already emerging. The Philadelphia Flower Show with this year's theme: Brilliant Britain is sure to dazzle as it has in previous years. Watch the buds of early flowering trees such as redbuds and maples quickly start to swell. If you are trying to get ready for the Oscar's and can't decide which ones of the nine best picture nominees to start with, try Beasts of the Southern Wild (what happens to nature and people after a truly devastating natural disaster), Argo (what happens to people after a political nightmare) and Silver Linings Playbook ( a movie with a great cast and local flair, as it is shot in and around Philadelphia and features a native son in Bradley Cooper). But I digress. We hope to hear from you this winter and be of service to you this coming spring and summer season. We have expanded our Plant Health Care program and will help you get the most from your landscape this year. Konstanze Fabian, Certified Arborist, PHC Supervisor

Fall News Letter
2012 A Year For The Record Books
Dear
Valued Customer, October 2012
As
in previous years we alert you to the consequences that unusual
weather occurrences have on our landscape shrubs and trees. This
winter was the mildest on record with hardly any snow fall. The
spring started very early and was wetter than normal, and the summer
was one of the hottest on record.
Especially
large, mature trees such as oaks, beeches, sycamores and maples have
had a difficult time coping with the changes in climate. The result
is decreased vigor, early leaf drop, branch die back, and increased
susceptibility for insect and disease damage.
The
arboricultural professionals at Al Cherry Tree Service are proud to
offer the following proven techniques to ensure that your trees
remain healthy or regain their health going into the winter, the most
challenging season of the year. Our Certified Arborists and
qualified Horticulturalists employ Best Management Practices and use
only organic and non-toxic materials and non-invasive techniques.
Below
is a list of treatments we recommend especially at this time of the
year. If you are interested in any or all of the applications or
have more questions please don't delay since October through January
is the best window for these remedial and preventative measures:
--
FALL FERTILIZATION AND AERATION FOR YOUR MATURE TREES ($50-$150)
- ANTI-DESICCANT SPRAY FOR YOUR ORNAMENTAL SHRUBS AND SMALL TREES ($50-$250)
- PREVENTATIVE PRUNING TO REDUCE WINTER BREAKAGE
- HORTICULTURAL OIL SPRAY OR SOIL INJECTIONS FOR INSECT CONTROLPlease don't hesitate to call us at 215-672-6777, visit our website and blog at www.alcherrytreeservice.com, or contact us by e-mail at alcherry@aol.com.
As
always, thanks for caring for your trees and landscape.
